"The Flower Gift": Book Description

Konnichiwa, minna. (Hello everyone.)

I hope this month finds you well. I’m thrilled to share that The Flower Gift will be published on my 28th birthday, November 3rd—a day that’s shaping up to be extra special. But that’s not all! I’ve also completed a sequel of sorts: a series of blog posts from the main character’s perspective, featuring exclusive extras not included in the book. I can’t wait to dive into these new adventures with you. The following are the official descriptions that will be listed on the back of both books.

The Flower Gift: Furawāgifuto

Zara Koda, a passionate blogger and double major in International Relations and Journalism, embarks on the journey of a lifetime when she receives a prestigious U.S. scholarship to study in Osaka, Japan, during her final year of university. As a Black American woman navigating the challenges of living abroad, Zara faces cultural differences, language barriers, and a whirlwind of new experiences. Despite the hurdles, she finds solace in her writing and her blog, The Flower Gift, where she shares her thoughts on art, identity, and the vibrant cultural exchange she experiences in Japan.

Along the way, Zara builds lasting friendships with her classmates Haruto, a talented yet reserved painter; Nanaki, a free-spirited aspiring voice actor; and Yuki, Zara’s dorm mate who wants to visit the United States. As she adjusts to life in Japan, Zara learns to balance her heritage with her newfound home, discovering the beauty of embracing multiple identities while finding love, friendship, and personal growth in unexpected places.

The Flower Blog is a heartwarming story about cultural exchange, self-discovery, and the strength of human connections across borders. Perfect for readers who enjoy coming-of-age stories, explorations of diverse identities, and the blend of romance and personal growth in a modern, multicultural setting.
